Despite the periodical issuance of medical bulletins by doctors, all sorts of rumours are flying high across the state over the health condition of Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi, who was admitted to hospital with pneumonia, renal failure and high diabetes.
Doctors at the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences Hospital said there was no change in the condition of Sai Baba in the last 24 hours, though his level of consciousness has considerably improved.
“His vital systems are in stable condition. He still continues to be on assisted ventilation through ventilator and CRRT, which is a slow dialysis process," it said.
Yet, there have been rumours that the doctors are deliberately suppressing the facts about Sai Baba’s health. The devotees have been insisting on the Satya Sai Trust to disclose the real health condition of Sai.
They are suspecting that the trust people are resorting to foul play to stake claim over the Baba legacy.
Hundreds of devotees tried to break into the hospital after rumours spread that Baba was critical and not responding to treatment. They damaged some vehicles and tried to attack the district collector and other officials for not allowing them to have a glimpse of the ailing Baba.
Revenue Minister Raghuveerra Reddy, who returned from Puttaparthi and gave a report on Sai Baba condition to the Chief Minister, later appealed to his followers not to trust rumors and not to get emotional.
“There is certainly no secrecy. We all know Baba had a hypertensive attack, a pacemaker was put to him. Yesterday, his renal output was less, so he was put on haemodialysis," the minister said.
The Chief Minister also reviwed with the Director General of Police Aravinda Rao the possible law and order situation in the town in view of reports that large number of people were on their way to Puttaparthi to have a darshan of Sai Baba.
The government imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 in Puttaparthi town as a preventive measure. Police check posts has been set up on all the entry and exit points of the town to prevent devotees from coming in.
